River Tubing Near Spartanburg SC — Everything You Need to Know
If you have been looking for river tubing near Spartanburg, Greenville, or Charlotte — you found the right place. Vintage View Adventures offers river tubing on the Pacolet River in Clifton, SC, and it is one of the best ways to spend a summer day in Upstate South Carolina.
We have two tubing options, and in this guide we'll walk you through everything — the differences between the trips, pricing, what to bring, how to book, and what to expect on the day. By the time you finish reading this, you'll be ready to book your float.
Two Ways to Float the Pacolet River
Not all river tubing is the same. At Vintage View Adventures we offer two distinctly different tubing experiences on the Pacolet River:
Lazy River Tubing — The Classic Float
Lazy River Tubing is exactly what it sounds like — a calm, relaxed, two-hour float on flat water through one of the most scenic stretches of the Pacolet River near Spartanburg. No rapids, no experience needed, no agenda.
You hop in your tube at our main property at 250 Phifer Line, drift downstream through lush greenery and beautiful river views, and when you reach the end of the float our team will tow you back upstream. No shuttle, no second car, no logistics to figure out. Just float and let the river do the work.
Lazy River Tubing is perfect for:
— Families with young kids (ages 4 and up)
— First-timers who want a relaxed introduction to river tubing
— Friend groups who want to float with drinks and good conversation
— Anyone who just needs a day outside with zero pressure
Adventure Tubing — For the Thrill Seekers
Adventure Tubing is for those who want a little more action on the Pacolet River. This trip takes you through an exciting mix of Class I and II rapids — rolling water, splashing fun, and the kind of float that gets your heart pumping.
Adventure Tubing is available on weekends only, with one run per day at 3PM. Maximum 10 people per trip, so this one books up fast — especially on summer weekends.
What's Included With Every Tubing Trip
Both tubing trips include everything you need to get on the water:
High-quality tube with backrest
Life jacket — provided and required
Staff safety briefing before you launch
Tow-back service — when you reach the end of the float, wave your paddle and our team will tow you back upstream to the main property
Lazy River add-on: Cooler tube for $20 — highly recommended for groups who want to bring drinks on the water.
What to Bring River Tubing Near Spartanburg
First-timers always ask us what to bring. Here's the short list:
Wear
Bathing suit or shorts — anything you're comfortable getting wet. Water-friendly footwear with a back strap — water shoes, sport sandals, or old sneakers work great. Leave the flip flops at home. They will fall off in the river.
Bring
Sunscreen (and then more sunscreen), a water bottle, a dry bag for your phone and valuables, a towel, and a change of clothes for after. You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks on both trips.
Leave at Home
Anything you cannot afford to lose or get wet. If it goes in the Pacolet River it is most likely gone forever. This means phones, wallets, jewelry, and electronics. Our team will wave your paddle back upstream when it's time — no logistics required.
Can I Bring Drinks on the River?
Yes — and honestly it's encouraged. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and beverages on both tubing trips. Alcohol is permitted for guests 21 and older. Just drink responsibly and keep it to cans — no glass on the property.
Want to float with a full cooler? Add a cooler tube to your Lazy River Tubing booking for just $20. You tow it right alongside your tube the whole way down the river. It is one of the best add-ons we offer.
Can I Bring My Dog Tubing?
Dogs are not permitted on tubing trips — but they are very welcome on our Hourly Kayak Rentals and at our Riverside Lounges. If you want a dog-friendly day on the Pacolet River, book an hourly kayak rental and bring your pup along for the paddle.
